Chirping
You stare at me lovingly
eyes forever hungry, devouring.
My bones hurt from the pain of
feeling out of place.
This dank darkness is not my
natural space.
Your face in soot,
my wings weighted with tiny specks
coughed up from your dusty insides.
You stare at me lovingly
eyes forever hungry, devouring.
My paradise gone.
I could fly then, over trees,
and clear water under the rainbow,
but in your presence, no more.
These soft sounds you hear say,
"no more."
I stare at you lovingly
eyes forever hungry, devoured
but my music holds me.
