Luis South. Elementary School Counselor (USC Magnet
School) & Craig Knotts, Celerity Charter School Administrator, “School
Counselors’ Focus on Multicultural Leadership”
LAGUNA ROOM 225
This
workshop will focus on multiculturalism as a leadership issue. It will
address
options counselors may design for themselves in order to be effective

education. The presenters have created a movement in the realm of
charter
schools to recognize the need for school counselors. The approach will
be more
about looking at the various players who fall to be on one side or the
other,
for or against the idea that counselors are essential to changes in a
school system.
Learning outcomes:
-
Participants will be able to identify key areas of counseling need
within the charter school environment
-
Participants will be able to identify key weaknesses and strengths
inherent to the development of multicultural leadership
-
Participants will be equipped to design and implement strategies to
effectively place education counseling as a universally accepted necessity
in the formation of small learning communities and charter schools
